Recap!

So, my computer decided to crash on me, and seeing as how the holidays have just passed, I haven't had the funds to fix it! So I've been a little behind on posts! But!! I figure I'll just do massive posts containing the nail polishes I've used since the last post until my computer is back up and running! So here goes long post number one!

This Christmas-y beauty is Lacquerlicious - Mistletoe Kisses! It's a pale green base with small darker green and red glitters! It applies very smoothly, and I'd suggest letting it sit upside down for a few minutes just to get a good mix of the glitters. But overall, a fabulous polish!
I decided to make it a little more festive and add some red chevron stripes using SinfulColors - Sugar Sugar! These were hand painted, seeing as how I haven't gotten the hang of using vinyls ;)

This is a two of a kind polish from Indie Polish called Dusk! I won it & it was one of two bottles made in this specific shade! The color reminds me exactly of what the name entails, dusk. It's a purple/grey beauty! Application was a charm, this is three coats. This was also my first attempt at chevron! :)

Yet another combination of two of my favorite indie brands, Vapid Lacquer and Supernatural Lacquer. The base for this mani is Vapid Lacquer's Destined for Greatness, a gorgeous purple holo! Sadly, the holo effect was gone once I topped it with this glitter topper, but it's still a fabulous purple! I used three coats, which, as always with Vapid Lacquer, went on perfectly! I then topped it with Supernatural Lacquer's Confetti Party! This has become my absolute FAVORITE glitter topper! It's like a party in a bottle!! <3 love these two brands!! Seriously in my top 3!!

Following up is yet another festive polish, this time by Supernatural Lacquer! This is Christmas Cookie! Christmas Cookie has a warm vanilla/sugar cookie colored base. It has small red and green glitters as well as Christmas Tree glitters. The only downside, as is a downside with almost every glitter topper with larger glitters, I had to fish for the Christmas tree. But, as I just stated, this is a very common thing with large glitters and it in no way changes how amazing I find this polish!

This was my very first shot at a gradient mani. I used three seperate indies! The darker blue is Mentality's Tough! I love Mentality, it's also in my top 3 indies. Tough is a kind of cobalt blue matte polish. 2 coats does the trick, but I used 3, as I almost always do! It went on very smoothly. The lighter blue is a polish I've already reviewed, F.U.N. Lacquer's Cinderella. I topped it off with Fancy Gloss's Holo Top Coat! I loved this mani! I wore it for almost a week straight!

Another Mentality! This is Rogue, a deep purple/burgundy matte polish! I also wore it on my toes, though that I topped with a shiny top coat. I'm in love with the matte look. It's so smart and phosisticated! (Sorry, Spongebob moment. Blame my two year old, hahah!) This color is just gorgeous! I wore this particular mani for Christmas! Not exactly a festive polish, but it was a Christmas gift to myself and I fell in love as soon as it dried!

And lastly, my current mani, Julep's Char! Char is a dark blue creamy polish! Three coats, as always. This is another polish I feel is very sophisticated. This is something I could see wearing to work. I'm a HUGE blue fan, and this color is simply amazing!

As of late, I've been using HK Girl top coat, from Glisten & Glow. Seriously, this is THE BEST top coat I have EVER used!!

Thus, this post is concluded!! ;)

Vapid Lacquer - Triggers & F.U.N. Lacquer - Cinderella

This post will be about two polishes used separately!

To start off, I will tell you about Vapid Lacquer's Triggers!
Triggers is a blue/purple duo-chrome polish. It simply stunning! Unfortunately, it's been overcast lately, so I haven't been able to capture the shift properly. But I will eventually! Even under lamp light, the shift was still magnificent to behold ;)

Anyways, this is three coats of Triggers. It's not a streaky polish & went on rather nicely. I'm a big fan of Vapid Lacquer, & this polish didn't disappoint!

On to the next polish, Cinderella! Cinderella is part of F.U.N. Lacquer's Princess Collection.
Cinderella is a lighter blue holo polish. It reminds me of a clear blue sky. It's a really pretty color that can be worn at anytime. I decided to accent it with heart shaped rhinestones!
I am still in love with the Princess collection! This polish is no different from the others I've tried, which means it's also amazing!! :)

Sinful Colors - Sugar Sugar & Supernatural Lacquer - New Year's Eve

I've officially fallen in love with Supernatural Lacquer! Seriously in my top 5 indies!! Anyway, I decided to give New Year's Eve it's maiden voyage! To get this mani started, I used Sinful Colors - Sugar Sugar.
Sugar Sugar is a shimmery red polish. I'm not big on reds at all, but this is one I've used quite a few times since purchasing it & I must say, it's not too bad! I used three coats, it all smoothed out & wasn't the least bit streaky!
Now, once this dried, it was time for the fun!!
I used two coats of New Year's Eve! & boy do I LOVE this glitter topper! It's like confetti!! There's black, green, purple, yellow, red & blue glitters(I may even be missing some!) They are all various sizes & look amazing over Sugar Sugar!
Needless to say, this is a combination I plan on using again!! <3

Vapid Lacquer - World DenimNation & Supernatural Lacquer - Snow Globe

I decided to take a break from F.U.N. Lacquer & do a simple winter mani. I didn't want anything super flashy or super Christmas themed, so I decided to do a glitter mani.
I started off with Vapid Lacquer's World DenimNation, which as the name says, is a dark denim blue. Now, Vapid Lacquer is quickly becoming one of my favorite indie brands & this polish did not disappoint.
It went on so smoothly & was shiny without topcoat! Not to mention, this color is simply stunning!!
<3<3<3<3
I just recently made my first purchase from Supernatural Lacquer & boy, am I glad I did!! They were having a super fantastic Black Friday deal, a BOGO free, so I naturally had to take advantage of that! I ordered Snow Globe & New Year's Eve. I also happened to be lucky enough to get a FREE bottle of their matte topcoat, Frosted!

I decided to top this gorgeous color with Snow Globe. To me, it looked like snow falling on a clear winter's night!
I adore this glitter topper!! I was a little bummed that I didn't get any big glitter for this particular mani, but I also only used one coat, so maybe next time!!
Putting these two polishes together was a very wise choice, if I do say so myself. They go together so well to make this beautiful mani! <3 I'm so in love! :D

F.U.N. Lacquer Princess Collection - Tiana

Tiana is a lovely pale green holo polish! I used three coats & topped it with HK Girl topcoat. Once again, there is nothing bad I can say about this polish.
(Indoor lighting)
This polish is, to me, a spring shade. It's very delicate. It shimmers so prettily in the sunlight!
(Direct sunlight)
It kind of reminds me of fresh growing leaves. It's such a gorgeous shade of green, not obnoxiously bright, but not a pastel either.
(Indirect sunlight)
This collection is amazing so far!! Wonder which one I'll try next ;)

F.U.N. Lacquer Princess Collection - Aroura

For my third polish of the collection, I decided to try Aroura!
Aroura is a holo pink polish. I almost want to call it a Barbie pink. It's a very pretty color, probably one of the more delicate shades in the collection!
(Indoor Lighting)
Once again, there is nothing I can find wrong with this polish. I used three coats under one coat of HK Girl topcoat.
(Direct Sunlight)
These polishes also don't give off that obnoxiously foul smell as a lot of polishes, so that's always a plus! ;)
(Indirect Sunlight)
I'm a big fan of pink polishes & this one is definitely on my list of favorites!

F.U.N. Lacquer Princess Collection - Merida

What can I say about this polish? At first, I didn't think I was going to like it. I tend to lean towards pinks, greens & blues because most others clash with my complexion. (In other words, I'm super pale!) Anyways, this polish is a reddish brown holo polish. I used three coats & topped it with HK Girl top coat.

I wish I had a better camera to capture just how magnificent this holo is!
(Direct Sunlight)
To me, the holo takes on more of a golden/green color. It works so well with the base color of the polish.

(Indirect Sunlight)
One of these days, I'll have a fantastic camera to catch the beauty of these polishes!!

F.U.N. Lacquer Princess Collection - Ariel

I recently won a contest hosted by F.U.N. Lacquer in honor of reaching 1,500 followers on FaceBook. My prize was the ENTIRE Princess Collection. This collection consists of 11 different holo polishes all based on various Disney princesses. I will be posting periodic reviews as I use the polishes.

I just received the polishes this afternoon.
First off, GORGEOUS packaging!! This is one reason I absolutely LOVE indie polishes. You get that personal touch!
This is the entire collection!! Now, I'm not going to spoil them all at once, so this post will focus on the very first one I decide to use.

I've always been a fan of blue & green polishes, so Ariel caught my eye almost instantly. I had been wanting to buy this polish before I found out I had won the entire collection, so I must say I'm ecstatic to use it!
(Indoors)
Ariel is a kind of seafoam green holo polish in the daylight, more blue under false light & I am in love!! I used three coats & topped it with HK Girl topcoat. Even taking these photos under lamp light, the holo is still amazing!! The color is terrific, especially if you love blues as much as I do.

(Direct Sunlight)
I honestly have nothing to complain about with this particular polish!! It's simply amazing!!

Mom's Christmas Mani!

So, my mom was in need of a very festive mani. Seeing as how it's now December, what could be more festive than a Christmas mani?! Now, she's not one for super fancy or flashy nails, so I tried to keep it simple.
These are the supplies I used. Three polishes, red, white & silver, green & white acrylic paint, brushes, & rhinestones.
Now, to start of, I put two coats of red polish, I used KleanColors Metallic Red, one all fingers except the ring finger of each hand. On the ring finger I used KleanColors White. How many coats you need to put all depends on the brand & how opaque you want it to look.
Now, one the nail polish dried, I started on the Christmas tree on the ring fingers. I used green acrylic paint to paint a tree like shape on to the nail then filled it in.
I then used various colored rhinestones for the ornaments & a pink star for the top of the tree. I stuck them on by just dabbing a tiny bit of the green paint underneath them.
Just to show the difference, on the bottom picture, I used a dotting tool to add in silver polish to resemble garland on a real tree.
I then used the dotting tool to put dabs of the same red polish used to paint the rest of her nails. I wanted to tie the colors in properly! :)
To finish them off, I used the green & white acrylic paints as well as the silver polish to create simple stripes to accent the whole mani. I did this on every red nail. I changes the direction the stripes are going to match the hand they were on, as you can see in the very first picture. This was the finished result on her right hand!

Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special: The Day of the Doctor nail tutorial!

So, as many of my friends & family know, I am a HUGE Doctor Who fan. Of course I'd jump on the chance to sport a mani in support of one of my all time favorite tv shows! Though Eccleston is my all time favorite Doctor, I figured it'd be best to pay homage to the current Doctor, seeing as how this is his second to last episode. I didn't want to get too fancy, seeing as how I'm not that skilled as of yet, so I did a relatively easy mani that will hopefully please any Whovian.

Now to start off with, here is a list of everything I used: Base Coat(OPI Nail Envy), polishes: Nina's - Cobalt(blue), Sinful Colors - Sugar Sugar(red), Mentality - Rascal(black), Vapid Lacquer - Tacos!(blue glitter topper), Top Coat(Glisten&Glow KH Girl), Acrylic paints(black, white & red), Cheeky rhinestones(black & silver), Nail art tweezers, nail art brushes, & ONYX moisturizing nail polish remover.
Now, to start of with, I put one coat of my base coat. These polishes stain. Once the base coat dried, I began polishing my nails. My thumb, pointer & pinky were all painted with the Cobalt blue polish. I painted my middle finger with Rascal & my ring finger with Sugar Sugar. I did two coats.
I cleaned the edges & cuticle area as best as I could. I then put the glitter topper on my thumb & pinky.
As my way of paying homage to Matt Smith, the 11th Doctor, I decided to go with part of his signature look, a bowtie. I painted a red bow tie with the red acrylic paint on my index finger. I then outlined the bowtie with black acrylic paint to make it pop.
Once that dried, I moved on to my middle finger. As any true Whovian knows, Bad Wolf appears A LOT. Most memorable is when Rose looks in to the Tardis in an attempt to get back to the 9th Doctor(Eccleston *fangirling*) & she mentions that she is Bad Wolf. So I decided to go off of that & painted the words Bad Wolf in white acrylic paint.
When this dried, I moved on to my favorite nail art of this mani: the Dalek! I decided to put him on my ring finger. I started off by painting two thin stripes horizontally towards the top of my nail. I then added a silver rhinestone to make the Daleks "eye", put in a ver small drop of black acrylic paint to hold it in place. Afer this, I added the black rhinestones for the body of the Dalek using the same process as I did with the eye.
As soon as my Dalek dried & my rhinestones were firmly in place, I began to apply my topcoat. I applied one layer on every nail except my ring finger, which I applied two just as a precaution to keep the rhinestones in place.
Now, you don't have to choose the same designs I did. I went for what was quickest to apply. But I don't think it turned out half bad ;)
